Children rushed to hospital after suspected Irukandji Jellyfish sting

A fourth child has been rushed to hospital in Queensland after a suspected Irukandji jellyfish sting on K’gari – formerly known as Fraser Island.

Yesterday three girls were airlifted by a helicopter to Hervey Bay Hospital after swimming at the same spot.

All four children are reported to be in stable conditions.

The marine creature’s sting is believed to be one of the most painful in the world and can result in cardiac arrest or death.
