China has a ‘history’ of using trade as ‘coercion’ for punishment

Former Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Australia China Scholar Andrew Phelan says China has a “history of using trade as coercion” in punishment to multiple countries over the years.

“That’s very much against the spirit of the WTO,” Mr Phelan told Sky News Australia.

“I think that China if it wants to show some real good will towards Australia, it will drop tariffs on these products.”
