‘Jeopardy’ Fans Call Out Mayim Bialik For “Inconsistent Rulings,” Say She Accepted The “Wrong” Answer

Jeopardy fans are calling host Mayim Bialik out for making what they say are “inconsistent” judgement calls when taking contestants’ answers.

On Wednesday’s (May 31) episode, contestant Kyle Marshall selected a clue in the “Presidential Doin’s” category. Per the New York Post, the clue read,  “Made Henry Clay Secretary of State; 2 years after the White House, settled into a new House (of Representatives).”

Marshall answered, “Adams,” to which Bialik told him to be “more specific.”

Marshall amended his answer and replied, “Who is John Adams.” But Bialik did not accept his answer.

Instead, contestant Ilhanna Redzovic, who is on day two of her winning streak, scored the $400 with her answer, “John Quincy Adams.”

Later on, Bialik accepted the answer “Harrison” when the answer was actually “William Henry Harrison,” which viewers at home felt was not a consistent way of judging answers.

“I feel like if the Jeopardy! judges take just “Harrison” instead of requiring “William Henry” or “Benjamin”, then they should also take “Adams” without asking which one,” one viewer observed. They later added, “Taking Harrison alone was wrong. But at least be consistent.”

Another viewer said Bialik “messed up” during Wednesday’s episode.

“It sounded like Kyle said Internet when the answer was Intranet. She should’ve asked him to repeat. He answered Harrison in the President category, but she didn’t ask for the specific answer. which she did for Adams,” they tweeted.

“The inconsistency with this show since she has been hosting as been fucking abysmal,” someone tweeted.

Bialik has been co-hosting the show with Ken Jennings since 2022. Jeopardy fans have been very vocal on social media about their opinions on the new hosts and their style of hosting, so much so producer Michael Davies recently defended them against the show’s “passionate” fanbase in an interview.

“When Ken is hosting and Mayim is hosting, there’s zero difference,” he said. “It’s exactly the same and that’s the broadest part of the audience. I back both of them. I go to the studio every day and try to make both of them better at hosting the show and make a better program environment around them. They have my full support.”

Jeopardy! airs on weeknights at 7/6c on ABC.
