The royal commission into the disability sector has handed down a lengthy report offering 222 recommendations.
The inquiry uncovered many stories of abuse with calls for a major shakeup to improve outcomes for disabled Australians.
Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth says the federal government will be establishing a taskforce to implement some recommendations.
Ms Rishworth has also indicated state governments have a role to play in responding to vulnerable Australians.
The report is sparking discussions on inclusion and better ways to support Australians with disabilities in wider society.
