Dating app identity checks to tackle ‘big problem’ of sexual violence from users

Full Stop Australia CEO Hayley Foster says she will be focusing on efforts to tackle the “big problem” of sexual and domestic violence on dating apps by implementing identity checks for users.

“Three quarters of users reporting some form of experience of sexual violence,” Ms Foster told Sky News Australia.

“So today the key changes we’re calling for are dating app users are required to submit themselves to I.D checks in order to use the app.

“If we know who is on the apps then we’re able to hold people to account and they can’t just delete their account when they’ve been abusive and then start a new one.”
