Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde live fight updates, results, highlights from 2023 boxing fight

Two knockout artists are ready to face off against one another on January 28. Artur Beterbiev, with a KO-to-win ratio of 100%, defends the WBC, IBF, and WBO light-heavyweight titles against Anthony Yarde (23 wins, 22 knockouts).

The fight takes place in Yarde’s backyard inside London’s Wembley Arena.

Beterbiev has held light-heavyweight gold since 2017 when he beat Enrico Kolling for the IBF light-heavyweight title. In 2019 he beat Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the WBC title, and in his last fight in June, Beterbiev beat Joe Smith Jr. for the WBO title.

Entering U.K. soil for the first time, if he can get past Yarde, Beterbiev may have a date with destiny against WBA light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. Until then, he is focused on what is in front of him. Beterbiev will look to become someone else when he steps inside that ring.

“I feel good. I hope on January 28 I will change a little bit (to turn into a monster),” Beterbiev said at the pre-fight press conference. “I said he looks like a bodybuilder because of his muscles. I don’t have this muscle and I didn’t say it to mean anything bad. I said it because he looks strong!”

Looking to play spoiler, Yarde is ready to hold light-heavyweight gold. “The Beast from the East” failed to win the WBO light-heavyweight title against Sergey Kovalev in 2019. Since then, he has gone 5-1 in his last six fights and is on a three-fight win streak.

Per BetMGM, Beterbiev is the -700 favorite, while Yarde is the +450 underdog. Despite the odds literally stacked against him, Yarde is ready to do whatever it takes to beat Beterbiev.

“Being an underdog, over-dog middle dog… it don’t matter to me. I’m a dog When I get in the ring and I start throwing my hands about, everyone knows what I can do,” Yarde stated. “If you want to say it does anything to me, it gives me that little push, that little urge… Three belts, legacy, and history. I’m happy it’s Beterbiev. This scary person. I’m happy that it’s three belts. It just makes it all that much better. It’s gonna feel like it’s earned. It’s not no easy way out.”
