Sergei Pavlovich destroys Tai Tuivasa with 54-second knockout

Sergei Pavlovich extended his first-round knockout streak to five with a demolition job on Tai Tuivasa in Orlando.

The heavyweights clearly had no intention of doing overtime as they both came out swinging from the bell.

Pavlovich dropped Tuivasa with a jab and swarmed on the Aussie who attempted to throw some heat back the other way.

Tuivasa went down for a second time thanks to a clubbing right hand and Pavlovich poured on the pressure to stop the bout after just 54 seconds.

Pavlovich already had the longest active knockout streak in the UFC, with that mark now sitting at five fights.

Ranked fifth in the division coming into the bout, Pavlovich is putting together a strong case for a shot at the heavyweight title.

The 30-year-old Russian is now 17-1 as a professional and 5-1 in the UFC.

For Tuivasa, it’s a second straight loss after he was finished by Ciryl Gane in September.

“Bam Bam” had been on a five-fight knockout streak of his own prior to the bout with Gane.

The Sydneysider may well opt for a longer break between bouts after two stoppage defeats in quick succession.
