Rivalry Series 2022-23: Dates, times, scores and how to watch USA vs. Canada women’s hockey games

One of the greatest rivalries is underway in a seven-game series, as the United States and Canada are facing off in the 2022-23 Rivalry Series. 

The two countries have dominated in women’s hockey. In the history of the IIHF Women’s World Championship and Olympic Winter Games, only two gold medal games have not consisted of the Americans and the Canadians.

The two women’s national teams are taking part in the third installment of the Rivalry Series. It was not played the last two seasons due to COVID-19. 

So far, the United States is up 3-2 in the series. The Americans earned wins in all three contests in November, two of those coming in Canada. The last time out, Canada secured a 3-2 win in overtime to close out the December matches.

What is the Rivalry Series?

The Rivalry Series was introduced by USA Hockey and Hockey Canada during the 2018-19 season. It was a way for the two powerhouses to meet on an annual basis outside of other international competitions. 

The first year, the event consisted of three games between the women’s national teams. Canada took the series 2-1. 

The following 2019-20 season consisted of five games, with the series expanding outside of just a single month. Team USA dominated that year, taking four of the five games. 

The series has not been played the last two years due to COVID-19. 

When does the 2022-23 Rivalry Series start?

The seven games between the bitter rivals began Game 1 on Nov. 15.  The teams played two more games that week on Nov. 17 and Nov. 20.

After that, the series was off until mid-December. Canada and the United States picked up the series with games on Dec. 15 and Dec. 19. 

The final two games have been scheduled for late February. The two contests will be played in Quebec on Feb. 20 and Feb. 22.

TSN and the NHL Network will once again be home to all of the action for the 2022-23 Rivalry Series.

The American audience can view the games live on TV on the NHL Network, or can stream them through fuboTV. 

Canadian viewers can watch the competition on TSN or can stream the games through TSN.ca or on the TSN app.

Where is the 2022-23 Rivalry Series?

The 2022-23 Rivalry Series will be played at a number of locations across the two countries. Five different cities from the United States and Canada will host a game for the series. Kelowna, British Columbia will host Game 1. 

The location for the last two contests have yet to be announced.
