If the Coalition opposes the legislation in the Senate, Labor will need the support of the Greens and two other crossbenchers. “So this is not, I’m told, the start of some plot in the Prime Minister’s office to have Tanya Plibersek do the initial work on David Van to soften the public perception blow when he works with the government to pass other legislation,” Mr Clennell said. “It’s the minister doing everything she can to get her Bill through.”
