Millions of Australians to receive 5.75 per cent pay rise from July after Fair Work Commission hands down annual wage review

The minimum wage will rise by 5.75 per cent after the Fair Work Commission completed its annual review.
Adam Hatcher, the Fair Work Commission President, made the announcement on Thursday morning.
The pay increase will come into effect for workers from July 1.
About 2.5 million Australians are currently on minimum wage or awards, or about a quarter of Australian employees.
There are 121 modern awards, which apply to employees in the national industrial systems in various industries and occupations. There are also a small number of modern enterprise awards that apply to specific business enterprises.
The minimum wage currently sits at $21.38 per hour, or $812.60 per 38-hour week before tax.
In making their decision, the Fair Work Commission heard from several different stakeholders, including the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, trade unions, the Australian Industry Group, various employees and employer organisations, individual employers and employees and the federal government and state governments.
