Jose Ramirez vs. Richard Commey date, start time, odds, price & card for 2023 boxing fight
Two former world champions will meet when California-born Jose Ramirez faces Richard Commey in a super lightweight affair at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California on March 25.
The fight airs on ESPN+ in the U.S. and Sky Sports in the U.K.
A Junior Golden Gloves National Champion, Ramirez turned pro in 2012. In 2018, the Avenal native won the WBC super lightweight title before adding the WBO title at the expense of Maurice Hooker the following year.
Ramirez lost a unanimous decision to Josh Taylor in an undisputed title bout in 2021 but rebounded in March 2022 with a win over former champ Jose Pedraza. He is now ready to return to the title picture.
“Richard Commey is a championship fighter with everything to gain,” Ramirez stated. “I expect the best version of Commey on March 25. My goal is to become champion again, and I am more motivated than ever to prove that I am the best junior welterweight in the world.”

Commey turned pro in 2011 and primarily fought in his home country of Ghana to start his career. A former Commonwealth champion, Commey failed to win the IBF lightweight title against Robert Easter Jr. in 2016 but eventually won the belt by defeating Isa Chaniev in 2019.
Since losing the belt to Teofimo Lopez in his second defense, Commey has gone 1-1-1. His last fight was a split decision loss to Pedraza.
The co-main event will see newly-signed Seniesa Estrada competing against Tina Rupprecht in a unification fight for the WBA, WBC, and Ring Magazine minimumweight titles.
Estrada won the WBA belt in 2021 against Anabel Ortiz. “Super Bad” is known for her beatdown of Miranda Adkins in 2020, with the fight only lasting seven seconds.
“I want to give Tina credit for being a world champion who isn’t afraid of a unification fight, unlike Yokasta Valle,” Estrada said. “Since we couldn’t get Yokasta into the ring, we decided to do one better and fight the woman who beat her. The Fresno fans are passionate, and they are in for a great show.”
Rupprecht beat Anne Sophie Da Costa in 2017 for the then-interim WBC title.
