Edwin Diaz won’t try to pitch for Mets this season after knee injury

The trumpets for Edwin Diaz at Citi Field officially won’t blare until 2024.

The Mets closer will not try to pitch in a game this season, according to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo.

Diaz will continue to throw bullpen sessions through September and is expected back next season.

But it appears he and the Mets have opted against it.
