The finance team at FanDuel had to make some calls about this $20 million loss.
A series of bettors in a Discord channel caught wind of a crazy house-made special parlay that FanDuel put together, with the winning bet to have every team make a field goal in the 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 4:25 p.m. ET. windows.
The results were gigantic, as Sunday showcased tons of scoring from all teams, and bettors rejoiced over what was likely one of the biggest wins in sports betting history.
One bettor in particular, known simply as “JD” @JDGoldBoys on X, formerly known as Twitter, pointed it out on the platform, writing that it was “worth a dollar.”
It seems many dollars were made by bettors, as tickets flooded in and bets were won after the Broncos-Commanders game was ended.
The bettor who pointed it out, JD, looks to have made $318,300 on the parlay by himself — a drop in the bucket compared to the $20 million that FanDuel lost on this one.
Interestingly enough, DraftKings was offering the same bet but priced much differently than FanDuel.
DraftKings priced a made field goal from every team at just 30:1, a far cry off from 200:1 that FanDuel posted it at.
The flood of money forced FanDuel traders to change their prices which looks to have gotten as low as 130:1, which was still a bit too low, it seems.
Betting on the NFL?
These bettors can thank the Jets, who had a first down at the Dallas 21, but a Zach Wilson spike on 2nd and 5 forced a conservative throw away, which was nearly intercepted, on third down.
On fourth down, fill-in kicker Austin Seibert nailed a 34-yard field goal, and the bet was now easily within grasp.
Each of the Broncos and Commanders hit field goals before the half, so the bet was already won by around 6 p.m. ET on Sunday.
FanDuel was flooded with replies of winning tickets at massive prices.
