7 thirst tweets that prove the world is ready for Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero in ‘Wicked’

If there’s one thing Gregory Maguire’s Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West taught us all, it’s that Fiyero most definitely fucks.

The 2024 movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical stars Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers actor Jonathan Bailey as the Swankified love interest, opposite Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively.

Maguire’s 1995 novel served as a prequel to L. Frank Baum’s 1900 classic and as source inspiration for the 2003 stage musical.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, the movie follows the two women as they meet at Shiz University and become close friends until an unfortunate encounter with the Wizard of Oz.

A teaser of the movie premiered Feb. 11, 2024 and gave a first look at Bailey’s “roguish and carefree prince,” leaving some viewers with indecent thoughts.

Are you hot and bothered over Bailey’s Fiyero? Here are seven thirst tweets that fully capture the excitement.

1. Cover Your Eyes, Children!

The Wicked musical may be for all ages, but we still don’t know about the movie. With Bailey’s dreamy looks and the dripping sexual tension in the Act 2 song “As Long As You’re Mine,” this adaptation might be more like Maguire’s book than we imagined.

2. Fellow Travelers Gets Greenified

And I oop–! The Fellow Travelers actor had an iconic scene in the 2023 Showtime miniseries where he practically deep-throated Matt Bomer’s entire foot. Throw in a little green magic and I see the vision.

3. IYKYK!

Inspired by Broadway graffiti that can be traced back a decade, this caption wins the internet.

4. Oh Jonny Boy!

If this is how people react to Bailey’s “0.1 sec” of screen-time in the teaser, I’m scared to see what “Dancing Through Life” is going to do.

5. Have Your Fire Extinguishers on Standby

A special note to all theaters: Have your fire extinguishers on standby? Though with the electric chemistry teased between Bailey and Erivo’s characters in this brief scene, we doubt “As Long as You’re Mine” will underdeliver.

6. Fiyero Is Babygirl — Confirmed

The scar? The hurt look on his face? I’d do anything for this man.

7. To Laugh, To Cry, To Care!

Much like movies at AMC, Bailey has a face that evokes all of the feels.

Wicked will release on November 27, 2024 in theaters.
